Four Men Charged for Firearms Found in Car
On Tuesday the 23rd of August, 2011, about 11:30pm, Vieux-Fort police were on patrol on the Vieux-Fort/Laborie Highway, when they intercepted a black Toyota Starlet, registration number: PG1610.
The officers conducted a search of the vehicle and consequently discovered two ski masks and two 9mm firearms along with three rounds of ammunition. The four occupants of the vehicle were arrested and subsequently charged for the offences of possession of firearm and ammunition. They are: 33-year-old, Julian Fabian a.k.a “Tobie” of La Ressource, Vieux-Fort, 29-year-old, Andre Joseph of Bruceville, Vieux-Fort, 27-year-old, Gower Jeffery of Belle-Vue, Vieux-Fort and 39-year-old, Julian Isidore a.k.a “Gillien” of Babonneau, Castries.
They appeared in court on Thursday the 25th of August, 2011, where Gower Jeffery pleaded guilty to the charges of firearm and ammunition. In relation to the charge of possession of firearm, he was fined $3000.00EC to be paid forthwith or in default two years imprisonment. With reference to the charge of possession of ammunition, he was fined the sum of $1000.00EC to be paid by the 15th of September, 2011 or in default nine months imprisonment. Andre Joseph also pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of firearm and he was fined the sum of $3000.00EC to be paid forthwith or in default two years imprisonment. The charges were withdrawn against Julian Isidore and Julian Fabian.
