Police Officer Remanded in Custody for Aiding and Abetting the Escape of a Prisoner
On Wednesday 13 February 2013, 39-year-old Norville Blane Clarke, Police Constable 710 appeared before the Second District Court, Vieux Fort to answer to the charge of Aiding and Abetting the Escape of a Prisoner.
At the time of his arrest he was attached to the Vieux Fort Police Station. Clarke was a police officer of seven years, having been enlisted in the organization from December 2005.
The said officer was remanded in custody at the Bordelais Correctional Facility until Tuesday 19 March 2013.
Norville Clarke was arrested after he allegedly aided in the escape of 22-year old Deno B’Jorn Thomas also known as Miguel Jonathon Garnett, a Jamaican National. The said incident occurred on Saturday 9 February 2013 about 9:00 pm. At the time, Deno B’Jorn Thomas was in custody at the Vieux Fort Police Station for the Attempted Murder of a Canadian National.
Deno B’Jorn Thomas is still at large. A Warrant of Arrest in the First Instance has been issued for his arrest. The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is seeking the assistance of the public in recapturing this criminal. If anyone has information pertaining to the whereabouts of the said individual, they can call 999 or the nearest police station.
Deno B’Journ Thomas is approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 191 lbs. He is fairskin in complexion and has brown eyes, black hair, a moustache and a beard. He is muscular in built and carries a cross tattoo with wings on his right shoulder and an angel playing a harp on the left shoulder. The word “Leonter” is written above the tattoo on the left shoulder and below it has the letters “NHT”.
