About 6:39 pm on Wednesday 22 May 2013, officers attached to the Micoud Police Station responded to a report of a serious vehicular accident which occurred along the Micoud Highway.
Whilst there, the officers observed a white omnibus registration number M594 and a beige and white Foton motor truck registration number TJ 6280 had come into contact with each. Both vehicles had received extensive damage to its entirety.
The driver of the omnibus was identified as 37 year old Sheldon Gaston of Bois D’Orange, Gros Islet where as the driver of the motor truck was identified as 43 year old Clide Wayne Isidore of Corinth, Gros Islet.
At the time of the impact there were 7 passengers onboard the omnibus including the driver and 4 persons aboard the motor truck.
As a result of the impact 2 occupants of the omnibus sustained serious injuries and were transported to St. Jude’s Hospital via ambulance. They are 22 year old Shala Raymond of Black Bay, Vieux Fort and Joel Phillip of Beausejour, Gros Islet. Both individuals succumbed to their injuries whilst at hospital.
Post mortem examinations have been scheduled for a later date. An investigation into the accident continues.
